About Us
K&D Studios creates unique, wooden crafts from wood that has been recycled or reclaimed from the local area.
My love of woodworking started when my wife and I refinished a set of dressers we got just after we were married.
They were in pretty good shape, but they needed to be 'refreshed'. We stripped off the old paint, and sanded - so much sanding!!! - and gave them a couple coats of stain. I loved the way the stain made the wood grain come alive!
Well, that first project turned out so well that I decided to make night-stands, since we didn't have any. And that second project led to another, and another, and now it's evolved from building things for around the house, to building things for friends by request or as gifts, and now it's time to expand, so we created K&D (the 'D' is for my wife's name - only fair because a lot of my projects are her ideas.)

Now, we're ready to share our creations. Please, take a look - we hope you'll find something to you'll like! Our pieces are unique - made one-at-a-time - and we try to use recycled or reclaimed materials as much as possible.

Incidentally, I took the picture of the mountains from a spot that is only a few minutes - maybe 5 minutes? - from our home in SW Calgary. Our logo comes from the outline of Mt. Rae, which is the peak on the right side of the logo. Our Gallery page has a few more pictures of the mountains west of us.
